The psychiatry department provides consultation and treatment for a variety of psychological conditions.
Scope of Services
- The services currently provided at Centre for Mental Health include both inpatient, outpatient and outreach specialist services:
- Psychiatry Services; consultation, referrals to other services within CMH and outside, triage services for urgent consultations, prescription renewals and referrals.
- Specialized Psychological, Psychotherapy and Counselling Services; Patients are generally referred to psychology & counselling services of CMH after an initial consultation and evaluation with a psychiatrist.
- Social Work Services; Patients are generally referred to social work services after an initial consultation and evaluation by a psychiatrist.
- Occupational Therapy
- Family Protection Unit; It aims to improve the health sector’s response to violence and abuse cases, by providing essential services through a survivor-centered approach. FPU also provides short term counselling within a safe, supportive environment, and makes referrals to outside agencies that can offer long-term support to survivors.
- 24 hours on call services to both internal references as well as those referred from other centers within greater Male’ as well as the rest of the country.
- Specialist outpatient services comprising of psychiatric, psychological, social work and rehabilitative care, ranging from medication to various forms of psychotherapy, rehabilitation, social work interventions and occupational therapies.
